Special Section
Funky Junk Funky Junk is an opportunity for High School Horticulture students and non-profit organizations such as plant societies and garden clubs to create a unique garden display. With the exception of plants, all the materials used to create the displays are recycled or found objects. The REStore has generously offered to donate $100 worth of product to participating designers.
Floral Competition All arrangements are entered into the Professional Design Contest. A minimum of $100.00 in floral materials must be utilized in the arrangement. There is no height or width restriction, but the arrangement must be stable on the pedestal and nothing should trail to the floor for safety reasons.
Winners are selected by a group of judges with experience and expertise in the field of floral design. You have the opportunity to win a $250 first prize, a $150 second prize or a $75 third prize. Judging takes place the day before the Show opens, Tuesday February 7, 2006.
Container Garden Exhibition This returning favorite showcases industry professionals and their container design ideas. From contemporary to outrageous, this exhibition is sure to please and tease the imagination.
Meet the Plants This is open to plant growers who would like to display their new or reintroduced plants that will be available for the 2006 gardening season. We are still accepting applications for Meet the Plants.
Children's Gardens Kids from around the Puget Sound area can get involved in gardening by creating these small container gardens. By working on a garden your students acquire a hands-on experience in horticulture and design, using plants and their imagination. The Show provides the containers, which are plastic propagation flats, 14 inches deep by 18 inches wide by 3 inches high. The soil is generously provided by Cedar Grove Composting. The Show does not provide the seeds or plants. The gardens must contain some live plant material. You can either start your plants from seed, or use existing plants.
