Rose Marie Nichols McGee

Rose Marie Nichols McGee, the daughter of a nursery owner, grew up with a book in one hand while weeding with the other, leading to a life in the world of plants, gardening and words.  She is intensely involved in the operations of Nichols Garden Nursery, one of the few second generation seed companies/ nurseries.  She writes and produces an annual 76-page catalog with her husband Keane McGee.  Nichols is a well known herb nursery and in 1992 she wrote her first book, Basic Herb Cookery (Nichols Garden Nursery, 1996).  Due to her mother’s health issues she began developing container gardening techniques, resulting in the book The Bountiful Container by Rose Marie and Maggie Stuckey (Workman Publishing, 2002).  In 2004 she was named a fellow of the Garden Writers Association of America. One of her great joys in life is living and gardening in Oregon, which she feels is a horticultural hotbed and the source of new plant and seed varieties for the entire U.S.  Website – www.nicholsgardennursery.com
