Maurice Horn
Maurice Horn is a passionate gardener who left a mainstream job to co-found Joy Creek Nursery, one of the nurseries at the forefront of the recent explosion of specialty nurseries in the Pacific Northwest. The nursery specializes in hardy perennials, shrubs and small trees. He is a Vice President and founding member of the Pacific Northwest Clematis Society and a council member of the International Clematis Society. His work on clematis has been featured in Horticulture, the bulletin for the International Clematis Society, An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Clematis by Mary Toomey and Everett Leeds (Timber Press, 2001) and other publications. He is on the Miller Garden’s Great Plant Picks perennial committee, which is dedicated to creating a comprehensive list of outstanding plants for the Pacific Northwest. He is also a member of the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon and has recently worked with that society and Reed College to design and install a low-maintenance gravel border for the campus. Currently, he is working with the City of Portland and the Portland Park Bureau to develop a public site for the Brewster Rogerson Clematis Collection. Website – www.joycreek.com
