Ian Taylor
Ian Taylor was born in England in 1948 and has lived in Seattle since 1975. He is a Master Composter, an avid organic gardener, and a collector of mixed metaphors. He joined the Seattle Tilth Association in the 1980’s and since 1991 has written the ‘Naked Gardener’ column, a regular and popular feature in the Tilth newsletter. The columns from 1991 to 1996 were collected and published under the title Suburban Adventures of a Naked Gardener (Crooked Cucumber Press, 2004). In her review in the Seattle Times, Val Easton writes “The essays are short and pithy, clearly written by a gardener who is out there planting and harvesting. A strong current of nostalgia blends with the rhythm of the planting year to create a witty and joyful look at organic gardening.” Ian still writes the column for the Tilth newsletter, still gardens organically, and still wonders why he can never find any garden twine among his gardening supplies each March.
