What are the latest design trends in pavers, concrete and flagstone? We’ve assembled some of the industries’ most experienced hardscape professionals to discuss trends, finishes, colors and application methods. You will walk away with brochures and information describing new products and the latest techniques to make your next project an award winner.  Moderator: Alan Burke. Alan Burke

Alan Burke, asla, is a landscape architect & owner of Classic Nursery & Landscape Company in Redmond. With over two decades in King County and a staff of 35, Classic has up to seven crews constructing landscape installations throughout the area.  A graduate of the University of Florida, Alan’s work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times Pacific Northwest and American Home magazines, as well as on CBS and on the ABC “Home Show.” Profiled on “Evening Magazine” and in Sunset, his design plan is featured on the back cover of the Sunset Western Landscaping Book. His outdoor installations with Classic have earned a number of Grand awards from Washington Association of Landscape Professionals. He has created a number of acclaimed gardens for the Northwest Flower & Garden Show including last year’s Founders Cup winner “Portage to the Pacific, a garden inspired by Lewis & Clark.”  Website: www.classicnursery.com.

 

Jan Nielsen & Bill Hyde

Jan Nielsen has been the marketing manager and outside salesman for Marenakos Rock Center for the past 6 years. He attended the University Of Washington. He worked in the marine industry and founded a graphics services business before joining Marenakos Rock Center. He has worked with many of the architects and landscape designers in the northwest.  Jan has worked on landscape and stone projects from the top of Mt Constitution to Pioneer Square.  He has the ability to feed your creative side to get most from your ideas.  His long time interest in the stone industry and its history here in the Northwest gives him a unique perspective on design and installation of projects using stone.  Jan’s work on the new Beacon Hill Library blended together Tenino Sandstone that was used on the original Seattle Library and the futuristic design of the new library.  Jan is often asked to help with projects using stone by architects, designers and masons here in the Northwest.  Website: www.marenakos.com
